Yes, wood-fired hot tubs are generally cheaper to run than electric hot tubs.  Being a renewable fuel source, wood is usually cheaper than electricity or gas.

Dry logs which are under 20% moisture content are the perfect fuel for heating your wood-fired hot tub. If you don't have a current supplier look at the UK Ready to Burn scheme which is run by Woodsure to find a local reputable supplier.

You can also use charcoal and wood briquettes which are free from resin and glues, ie those which are compressed and bound by heat.

Painted or stained wood or pallets (except virgin timber one)

Yes, you can use your hot tub in winter, provided that you monitor the tub whilst heating it. It is also recommended that you empty the tub after every use in the winter to avoid any water in the tub freezing in harsh winter conditions. 

Be aware when emptying the tub that the surface water could freeze and become a hazard
